AQUATIC COMPLEX

PROGRAM: Swimming and Diving Aquatic Complex for the University of Miami. Secondly, a space to bring the community together due to its function and location in between the campus and neighborhood.

DESIGN: The entrance serves as an open plaza for all in the community to enjoy and has a sense of ambiguity of the indoor- outdoor realm, drawing inspiration from themes of Tropical Architecture- persiana doors, cross ventilation, open floorplan to allow air flow, landscape within the built environment, and materiality.

MATERIALS: concrete, aluminum mullion, wood, and glass.

The initial process included drawing an idea of intention diving into the project. I created a metaphysical depiction using oil pastel, in which the water and sky become one, only interrupted by structure.
