HOMETOWN MAP

As an introduction to the New Urbanism studio and to get to know more about our peers and their backgrounds, I was given two weeks to design, research and compose, and illustrate an overall study of our hometown. As I was born in Wetzlar, Germany, I decided to show the architectural and urban development of this city that has such a rich history. The composition shows how urbanism was shaped back in history. The first part of the city, or the ‘altstadt’ grew organically around the constructed cathedral at the center of a large public square before the many different small winding roads lead to the newer parts of the growing city.
